Al lives in Sunnyvale with his wife of 35 years, Teri. Al grew up in many different Protestant churches back east, and even graduated from a Presbyterian college. But having never been confronted with the claims of Christ, Al pretty much made God a corollary to his life. After the Army and a job transfer brought him to the Bay Area, Al was invited in 1974 to Bridges (then First Baptist) by his boss, Ed Brunzell, a member here. Al promptly got involved in choir and, in 1975, thanks to the witness and prayers of many people, he stopped running from God and made Him Lord over his life. He met Teri in choir and the next year, they were married. They have two adult children, David and Julie. David is married to Jenny and lives in Seattle; Julie lives locally. Over the past three decades, Al has been part of musical outreaches locally and on overseas missions trips. He’s been a deacon, overseeing both missions and worship and has taught both high school and adult classes. He also acted as worship leader in our praise service for several years. Currently he leads his life group, Alpha Kara, and plays bass and sings in the choir. Most of his working life was in and around the printing industry but he’s currently not working and seeking God’s direction for the next phase of his life.
